For the third time in the last four seasons the Flyers have failed to advance past the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. And for the second year in a row, they’ve been ousted by the Pittsburgh Penguins. All the pieces seem to be in place for the Flyers - and to be fair, they were much more competitive against the Pens this season than last - but they’re golfing now and the Pens are moving on. What does this team need to get over the hump?

With Martin Biron’s 3-0 shutout of the Penguins in game 5 of their first round playoff series (a perfect answer to Marc-Andre Fleury’s brilliant game 4 performance), the Flyers kept their season alive, forcing a return to Philadelphia for game 6 in the process.

The Flyers needed to at least match their level of intensity from their game 3 victory in order to win game 4 and tie the series at 2-2. They did. But the series is still going back to Pittsburgh with the Penguins one win away from the second round.
